Anica Bolanos

President

anica.bolanos5263@email.bakersfieldcollege.edu

Hello! My name is Anica, and I will be graduating from the ADN program in December of 2026. I have worked as a Dialysis Technician II for the past five years and feel like nursing is definitely my place. Working in the health care system has helped me gain assessment skills that help me in our clinical setting. As much as I have enjoyed my time in dialysis, I love maternal-child areas and feel like I’ll end up in NICU, but time will tell. Outside of school, I love live music, Dodger baseball, I have a soft spot for animals and love to try new things. SNA has helped me gain leadership skills and I have enjoyed the opportunity to be President of this amazing group. Being able to participate in the community has made me a better person, but I know it will also help me be a better nurse.

Hello everyone! My name is Jonathan Stewart, and I’m honored to be part of the ADN program, with plans to graduate in Fall 2027. Caring for others has always been at the heart of what I do. I’m outgoing, approachable, and genuinely passionate about making a positive difference whether that’s in a clinical setting or simply brightening someone’s day. I’m fueled by good music, staying active, and making memories at music festivals. I’m also a proud dog dad to three French bulldogs. Above all, I value time with family and friends, sharing laughter, and embracing everything life has to offer. I’m truly excited to be part of this organization and look forward to growing, learning, and contributing alongside everyone.

Hello, my name is Sarah, and I will be graduating from the ADN program in Spring 2026. I currently work as a CNA in the ICU, where I have gained valuable experience in critical care and strengthened my clinical foundation. Working in this high-acuity setting has allowed me to connect classroom learning with real-world patient care. My goal is to become a critical care nurse after earning my RN license. Outside of school and work, I enjoy spending time with family, animals, and friends, being outdoors, running, hiking, and reading. The Student Nursing Association has provided me with meaningful leadership and professional growth opportunities, and I am grateful to serve as Secretary.

Luis Becerra

Website & Communications Director

luis.becerra1213@email.bakersfieldcollege.edu

Hello everyone, my name is Luis and I will be graduating from the ADN program in the fall of 2026. I originally had not chosen a career path in healthcare. I had initially chosen law as my field of focus. After I had received my bachelors in criminal justice, I had realized that it was not a fulfilling path that I had thought it was going to be. I was originally introduced to the medical field after taking an EMT course and had fallen in love with the medical field, almost instantaneously. I have grown to appreciate the connections I have made along the way with my classmates and patients included. In my free time I enjoy playing video games, going to the gym, and going to music festivals when I have the opportunity.

I hope to expand my knowledge and reinforce my critical thinking skills when it comes to patient care and becoming the best nurse I can possibly be.

Community Health Project Coordinator

Hi everyone! My name is Leslie Diaz, and I will be graduating from the ADN program next fall! I am super excited because I finally get to have my big girl job after so many years in college! I have attained my BS in biochemistry in the spring of 2024 at CSUB, and have done lots of research with organic chemistry, so this has been a big shift in plans! Originally, my path was to pursue medical school, but I fell in love with the work the nurses did when I got a job as a nurse assistant at Adventist! Although it feels like it took forever to get to this point in my life, I am very grateful for the journey because I feel like I've grown so much and gained so much experience that it has shaped me into the person I am today. I will be going back to CSUB to obtain my BSN since I have already completed the nursing prereqs during my undergrad there, and it would be a smooth transition since I am an alumni. Currently, I volunteer as a cuddler at Memorial and I have fallen in love! I hope to one day work in the NICU and help the strong and brave little humans grow and prosper to live and experience their own life journeys! Lastly, in my free time I love to go outside, to the gym, do random research and learn something new, and spend time with friends and family. I am very much an extrovert, so don’t be afraid to reach out to me if you need any advice or support, I will be here for you, and I am grateful to be in this position for SNA!

This is why I am honored to be the Breakthrough to Nursing Director as it is focused on increasing the diversity of underrepresented groups via mentorship and education which align with my values. In my spare time, I love listening to live music, dancing, and spending time with my Siberian Husky who I adore with my heart.
